WHO WE ARE
Decolonial Solidarity (DS) activists and supporters are showing up consistently in their communities at RBC's across the country in a coordinated Adopt-a-Branch campaign. Check out our Calendar!
The campaign aims to create a 360 degree megaphone system: wherever the bank is, it will hear from people just like you. By engaging RBC customers, employees, and members of their communities, we put pressure on RBC’s leadership to change track.
Our theory of change is:
The campaign aims to create a 360 degree megaphone system: wherever the bank is, it will hear from people just like you. By engaging RBC customers, employees, and members of their communities, we put pressure on RBC’s leadership to change track.
Our theory of change is:
- If enough of us swarm RBC branches across the country, we can pull on two key pillars of support: employees and customers. We weaken these pillars of support by educating them about the bank’s actions and mobilizing them to speak out.
- Then the bank will pull its support from the Coastal Gaslink Pipeline and start strengthening its Indigenous Rights policy.
- Because the bank cares about its customers and employees, but especially its brand. Under pressure from a large coalition of Indigenous groups and NGOs, it is worried about losing its reputation as a positive force in Canadian society. Join the rising tide of action against Canada's biggest fossil fuel investor.
Before getting involved, please agree with the following principles:
- Solidarity and Allyship: we are directly accountable to the frontline Indigenous Land Defenders we support. They approve or veto our goals, strategy, tactics, and targets. If the frontlines call on us to change course, we change course. We are here to support them.
- Ongoing (self) education*: this is a commitment to be curious and to continue learning about allyship, Indigenous cultures and traditions, the history of colonialism in so-called Canada (and elsewhere), and the tools to fight this ongoing injustice. This includes a willingness to be wrong and to be corrected.
- Action: we are committed to taking action or supporting those who take action (as coaches or organizers). Our mandate from Land Defenders is clear, and action is a part of it!
- Long-term: we are in this for the long-term! This is not just a day of action or a week-long campaign, but an extended commitment to support Land Defenders and Land Back struggles across Turtle Island.
